Sehr geehrter Herr Professor!

So viel in Eile.

Dear Professor!

Your 1 friendly agreement, which I received today, 2 was sufficient basis for me to undertake the appropriate action. According to the statement of the bank director, which I immediately secured, there is a chance for consent 3 from the German central agency. This much in haste.

With best wishes,
Yours,

Footnotes

1 Writing of this letter is recorded in Schenker's diary at OJ 2/12, p. 2021, December 16, 1918: "In den Bankverein, um Erkundigungen beim Leiter einzuziehen u. an Halm in einer Karte Mitteilung, daß Aussicht auf Einwilligung seitens der Devisenzentrale besteht." ("In the Banking Association in order to make inquiries of the Director, and word to Halm in a postcard that there is a good prospect of consent on the part of the foreign exchange central office.").

w In DLA 69.930/4, Schenker asks for Halm’s "freundliche Zustimmung” (friendly consent) to transferring 1,600 Kronen for Halm's use from a trust administered by him. Halm’s response is OJ 11/35, 10, December 14, 1918, which Schenker is here acknolwedging.

3 Original appears to read “deuchen-Zentralle”, hence the translation given here is provisional.
