Footnotes1 Reichsstraße: during the Austrian monarchy, the name given to a highway maintained by the state. In 1921 these were renamed "federal highways." The highway mentioned here is the so-called "Hungarian Road" (Strata hungarica), which went from Graz across the hills of East Styria to Hungary. 2 An inscription for Five Analyses in Sketchform, or Schenker’s edition of Brahms’s Oktaven und Quinten.
