die Beethoven -Feier 2 brachte glücklicherweise das Faksimile der „ Appassionata “ (aus Paris) 3 nach Wien. Nun bin ich in der Lage, unseren letzten Abmachungen zu entsprechen; ich sende die Korrektur der Sonate nach der Handschrift u. erbitte eine ehebaldigste Korrektur der Druckerei, da das Faksimile stark verbreitet ist.

As good luck would have it, the Beethoven Festival 2 brought the facsimile of the "Appassionata" Sonata (from Paris) 3 to Vienna. I am now in a position to comply with our most recent letters of agreement. I am sending [you] the correction of the Sonata in the light of the autograph manuscript, and request a proof as soon as possible from the printer, since the facsimile is being widely distributed.

2 Beethoven Festival: March 26, 1927 was the centenary of Beethoven's death.

3 A facsimile edition of the autograph manuscript of the "Appassionata" Sonata, Op. 57 had recently been issued (Paris: Edition d'Art H. Piazza, [1927]). Schenker's diary records that he received it on April 5, began work on correcting the sonata against the facsimile on April 23, and completed the corrections the next day (OJ 3/9, pp. 3054, 3058).
