Correspondence and Photograph
Correspondence between Heribert Esser and Tomáš Kornfeld survives in the possession of Heribert Esser, and also in photocopy as OJ 71/10a, [1] and OJ 71/21a, [1]-[2] (1988). A photograph of Tomáš, inscribed "Tommy Kornfeld, born August 7, 1932, taken on August 7, 1939" survives as OJ 72/9, the photographer being Karl Engel, Aussig (originally enclosed with OJ 14/7, [1], letter from Felix Kornfeld to Jeanette Schenker, August 23, 1939).
Tomáš's letter to Heribert Esser of June 8, 1988 (OJ 71/21a, [2]) is of great importance in helping clarify the original friendship between Emil Kornfeld and Heinrich Schenker, the way in which Jenny Kornfeld came to know Heinrich Schenker, the situation in the Kornfeld household after Jenny left the family in 1910 to be permanently with Heinrich in Vienna, and the subsequent contacts between Jenny and her son Felix.
