Siegfried Ochs

In 1882, Ochs founded the Philharmonischer Chor in Berlin, which became one of the leading choruses in Germany, and merged with the Berlin Hochschule der Musik in 1920. He specialized in performances of choral works by Schütz, Bach, Handel, Beethoven, Schubert, and Brahms. He made editions of J. S. Bach cantatas, the St. Matthew Passion, arrangements of German folksongs, etc., and also made recordings.
Correspondence with Schenker
Two letters from Ochs to Schenker survive as OJ 13/7 from 1898 and1903, on both occasions returning choral compositions that Schenker had sent him with a view to performance.
