Viennese pianist, teacher, writer on music, and composer.

After first studying medicine, and then music in Berlin and at the Vienna Conservatory 1895–99 (piano with Julius Epstein, theory with Robert Fuchs), and at the University of Vienna 1898–1901 (music history with Guido Adler), he worked between 1901 and 1904 at the Breslau Conservatory. From 1914 to 1917 he was a private teacher, and undertook concert tours to amongst other cities, Prague, Vienna and Berlin. In 1918 he returned to Vienna, where from 1920 onwards he taught at the Lutwak-Patonay-Konservatorium and from 1922 at the Neues Wiener Konservatorium.
